Our Mission
Providing a unique early childhood education
The Nest Nursery School is a not-for-profit organization that nurtures relationships, curiosity, critical thinking, empathy, and advocacy. We are dedicated to building an understanding of the inequities in early childhood education and to expanding the possibilities for schools.
Our Philosophy
At The Nest we view children as capable, curious, and active learners who construct their understanding through relationships and exploration. Grounded in collaboration, thoughtful environments, and documentation, this approach fosters creativity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning.
Reggio Emilia Inspiration
The school provides a unique early childhood education program which is influenced by the educational experiences in the infant/toddler centers and preschools of Reggio Emilia, Italy.
The co-founders of the school have made several trips to Reggio Emilia to study the approach, and have participated for over 20 years in a local professional development collaborative called Project Infinity which is devoted to supporting conversation and exchange among schools who share an inspiration from the schools of Reggio Emilia.
